2009-2010 PROGRAMS

		Meeting details are provided in the Design Network e-newsletter and
		meeting notices. For your convenience, we will also send an e-mail reminder the week before each meeting.

		Please RSVP for each meeting and let us know whether or not you are
		coming! This courtesy will help us plan and execute the best possible programs for your comfort and enjoyment.

		Meetings are free for all Design Network members and first-time
		guests who are considering membership in The Design Network. Non-members may also attend select meetings for a $10 fee.

		Meeting times, unless otherwise stated, are as follows: set-up, snacks
		and socializing begin at 6:30pm. Guest speaker begins promptly at 7pm followed by DesNet business and more networking. This gives speakers a minimum of one hour for their presentation so we can all benefit from their expertise.

Sunday 06/07/09	Chelsea Flower Garden 14743 Kinsman Road Middlefield, OH	Our tour begins promptly at 1:00pm. For more information, call them at 440-834-1222.
Sunday 08/09/09	Gardenview Horticultural Park 16711 Pearl Road Strongsville, OH	Our tour is from 9:30am to 11:30am. Admission is $5, payable at the park.
Tuesday 08/11/09	NGLCO Field Day at North Coast Perennials 3754 Dayton Road Madison, OH	Help staff DesNet's booth and spend time with fellow landscape design professionals, nursery growers and more. Don't miss the part afterwards at Maggie's house. If you get there first, start weeding.
Saturday 09/19/09	Mooreland Mansion 7700 Clocktower Drive Kirtland, OH	This historic home and gardens is located on the campus of Lakeland Community College. Our tour is from 9:30am to 11:30am. Please arrive by 9:15am sharp.
Saturday 10/24/09	Lakeview Cemetery 12316 Euclid Avenue Cleveland Heights, OH	Tour is from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. Meet inside the cemetery at the Garfield monument. Founded in 1869, Lake View Cemetery sits on 285 acres of land and was modeled after the great garden cemeteries of Victorian England and France. There is so much to see at Lakeview that it deserves multiple visits throughout the year. This fall visit should offer stunning color and maybe some Prunus autumnalis in bloom. In addition to the horticulture wonders is the President Garfield Monument and Wade Chapel with Tiffany glass window and murals. Many famous folks are interred there... How many names you recognize?
Friday 02/12/10	Holden Arboretum Kirtland, Ohio	Winter Tree Identification - Bundle up as we walk the grounds with horticulturist Toby Davidson and learn how to identify trees in winter. Meet at 4:00pm at The Shelter House. RSVP to Megan Davidson at 440-488-3522 or via e-mail.
Saturday 03/27/10	Eagle Creek Greenhouse 10151 Ashbury Road Mantua, Ohio	Private Tour - Join us at 10:00am for a special tour of this progressive greenhouse, complete with a windmill to harness alternative energy! We will tour the growing facilities in Mantua, not the retail store in Bainbridge.

Saturday 01/16/10	Home of Judith Siegel Shaker Heights, OH	Roundtable Discussion & Networking – Let's start the new year learning and growing from each other's experience. We'll go around the table and discuss how we started in the industry, our favorite and least favorite plants, and your most priceless tips and tricks. Please note that this is a potluck lunch, so please bring a covered dish to share.
Saturday 03/06/10 Noon to 3:00pm	Home of Dianne Vanas Mentor, OH	Basic 3-D Perspective Drawing – Member Kathy Stokes-Shafer will teach us how to sketch our designs in three dimensions. Program includes drawing and designing on tracing paper followed by review and discussion of the sketches. Please note this is a potluck lunch, so please bring a covered dish along with pencils and blank drawing paper.
Saturday 03/20/10 Noon to 2:30pm	Home of Leslie Scott Cleveland Heights, OH	Prescreening Potential Clients – Member Leslie Scott will share tips that she has perfected over the years for screening potential new clients. This is a critical first step in selling landscape designs and something everyone can benefit from. Please note that this is a potluck lunch, so please bring a covered dish and your enthusiasm for a wonderful Spring!
