About the Event
The Christmas tree at CBG-
As we begin creating the materials we'll need for this year's tree it's also time to collect and dry florals and grasses in order to create the meadow section of our tree.
Any and all contributions from you will be appreciated and utilized!
Here's how you can help......
As much as possible we'll aim to use native meadow plants to cut and dry now through the end of October but the sooner the better. I don't know how each and every plant will look dried but I'm experimenting with what I have available around the farm.
The main thing to remember is to make a good sized fistful bunch so we can use them as is. Use a new rubber band to be sure it lasts throughout the tree display season. Easy way to hang is with an opened paperclip on to the edge of a shelf or a line in a dry and dark place or at least out of direct sun.
I'm bunching mountain mint, zinnias, statice, rudbeckia, scabiosa, sea oats, blue stem, marigolds. Golden rod, aster, teasel, joe pye, ironweed, sunflowers, all may work. Here is a link form the Western Reserve Herb Society on what they dry for use in their annual herb fair.

Aim for anything that will retain some color when dry.
We'll also need milkweed pods both green and dry empty ones. Leave on the stems if possible.
I don't know how many bunches we'll need but we have a 12' tree this year so let's err on the side of having too many! Let me know as soon as you save some and I'll keep a list.
