About the Event

Local herbalist and author, Beth Schreibman Gehring, will present to The Design Network - Crafting Your Homestead Apothecary: Local Herbs, Seasonal Living, and Kitchen Healing

Here. is Beth's bio:

Before fully devoting herself to writing and herbalism, Beth spent nearly three decades as President of Schreibman Jewelers East, one of Northeast Ohio’s most respected bridal, jewelry, and tableware destinations. There, she guided generations of couples through the art of building meaningful bridal registries and heirloom collections, cultivating a culture of exceptional service and aesthetic excellence. Her expertise in table design extended beyond the showroom: she created table settings for numerous television shows and books featuring Julia Child and Jacques Pépin, and was interviewed by Martha Stewart Living for her distinctive approach to entertaining and home. These years shaped her deep understanding of how beauty, hospitality, and intention come together to create lasting memories.

Her most public project today is the Forage and Gather Substack, a newsletter filled with seasonal essays, herbal musings, recipes, and reflections on nature, home, and ritual. She invites readers into the quiet practice of home — lighting candles, tending herbs, setting tables, and marking the turning of the year with intention and beauty.

Beth’s voice is rooted in lived experience: she draws on decades of studying functional and integrative nutrition and herbalism. She is an active member of The Herb Society of America and The Western Reserve Herb Society, where she has contributed through leadership and educational involvement. Deeply committed to sustainable gardening and urban farming, she cultivates productive kitchen gardens that prioritize biodiversity, soil health, and seasonal eating, demonstrating how small-scale, city-based growing can nourish both household and community. She places as much value on a winter stew that comforts the spirit as on an herbal infusion that soothes the nervous system.

Her writing extends beyond her own platform and has been featured in lifestyle and fragrance publications. Her essays often weave folklore, seasonal traditions, and personal memory into practical and evocative explorations of food, gardens, herbs, and celebration.

Beth is also an author; her book Stirring the Senses!: How to Fall Madly in Love with Your Life and Make Everyday a Day for Candles & Wine! invites readers to approach life with intention, joy, and a sense of ritual grounded in simple pleasures.

At her core, she is devoted to looking at the ordinary — meals, gardens, family gatherings — and discovering in them the threads that make life feel rich, connected, and meaningful.
