Description
When I first meet them - many of my clients have precious little time to connect with nature. And when they ARE outside they can feel overwhelmed with a "to do" list of maintenance. A lot of the time they spend is about making their yards presentable for neighbors and drive-by traffic.
We are able to flip that narrative and show them how to make the space work for THEM. Herb gardens, cut flower gardens, perennial gardens, even formal knot gardens - all reduce maintenance while giving back to homeowners as compared to lawns and needy fast-growing foundation shrubs. Suddenly a spot that needed to be weeded, mowed, or sprayed with harmful pesticides provides cut flowers to coordinate with the new wallpaper in the dining room. And over winter, as they add compost from the kitchen to the dormant garden beds, worms begin to find the soil. Bird activity increases all winter long outside the space and draws their attention outside more frequently. The next spring they call to let us know how the tulip display in the same beds turned out, so that we can make any adjustments we need to for the following fall planting. We are all connected to the seasons and the circadian rhythms of life.
I don't know how people live without it.
