The Elements of Art and Principles of Design
The elements of art and basic principles of design are found in all good art, including architecture, music, and dance. Learn what these elements and principles are, how to recognize them, and how to apply them to landscape design.
Pots that Pop!
This presentation builds on the first by showing how to apply the basic elements and principles of design to container plantings. Jackie will use tabletop containers to demonstrate how you can make all your container pots pop!
About the Speaker
Jackie Ansara is an award-winning residential and commercial landscape designer who has worked in the landscape industry since 2002. She created and managed an organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program for four years, and loves sharing her knowledge and experience through public speaking.
A member of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association, Jackie is a Certified Green Industry Professional in Michigan and previously served on the board of the Ohio chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).
Jackie is the outside sales manager for Detroit Garden Works and The Branch Studio, both of which are owned by renowned landscape designer, Deborah Silver. Established in 1995, Detroit Garden Works has been named one of the top 25 garden stores in America. The Branch Studio has been designing and fabricating garden ornaments since 2004. Deborah also writes the Dirt Simple blog, which discusses both horticultural and design issues in the landscape.
